Have you seen the iPhone split screen feature and are trying to discover how to split screen on iPhone so that you can use it on your phone too? We've got a detailed article on how to get this done.
If you have an iPhone, you can split the screen, which is at least twice as useful and productive as using only one full screen. You can use two websites or two apps at the same time with this feature, or literally do more than one thing at a time, true multi-tasking. So we'll show you how to use iPhone split screen and explain everything you need to know.
Apple is a little tight-lipped about the mode (for good reason), and not everyone knows how to use it well.
But below, we'll show you how to make use of the iPhone split screen feature.
In addition, we'll go over the mode's limitations and how you can still enjoy all of the benefits of the split screen on iOS.
So do you want to use the iPhone split screen mode? Let's find out how!
Split screen mode is not available for all models
iOS split screen isn't a feature that many users use on a regular basis. Despite the fact that iPhone screen splitting is a very useful feature, only a small percentage of Apple users are aware of it.
What is the reason for this? Actually, the reason is very straightforward: not all phone models support the iPhone split screen mode.
The mode integrated with the iOS menu is not the traditional iPhone split screen mode (more about this in the next section).
Whether or not your device has the appropriate mode depends on the actual model of the phone. The mode is only compatible with the more recent iPhone models. All iPhones with the suffix Plus, Max, or Pro starting with the 6 model are included in this category, but the cheaper phone models do not support this.
That means you can use Split Screen mode if you have an iPhone 6s Plus. The mode is available to iPhone and up to iPhone 13 Pro Max users. However, users of older (classic) iPhone models, such as the iPhone 6, 7, or 8, 9, 10, 12 and 13 will have to make do without it.
How to split screen on iPhone / iOS
The iPhone Split Screen Mode can be found in your menu and turned on if you have one of the higher iPhone models as discussed above. The feature is buried deep within the iOS menu and is difficult to locate at first glance.
To split screen on iPhone, go to Settings > Display & Brightness > Display > Zoom > Set > Use Zoom. After you have made this setting, your device will be able to switch to Split Screen mode.
All you have to do now is hold your device crosswise or horizontally if you want to split your screen in the future. If you turn your iPhone to the side after opening an app, it will automatically switch to iPhone Split Screen mode.
You can see the open app as well as additional information like mail notifications, time, calendar, incoming messages, reminders, contacts, settings, and other Apple internal data in this mode.
Simply put, this is a stripped-down version of iPhone Split Screen Mode that displays additional iOS information. A so-called jailbreak, on the other hand, can be used to unlock additional features such as iPhone Split Screen. Apple's method, on the other hand, is not authorised and poses numerous security risks.
Alternative Splitscreen Options
Apple's screen splitting feature is rather limited, as it is only available on certain devices and is not a true split screen mode. Is it possible to have a true iPhone split screen mode that allows you to view two different contents at the same time?
Yes, and it actually makes using your iPhone twice as enjoyable. The alternative is to use special apps. Many applications are available in the App Store that is specifically designed to emulate the iPhone split screen mode on your device.
Many of the apps do an excellent job of displaying two screen contents side by side or on top of one another. The four best applications are listed below.
1. WebDuo Pro
WebDuo Pro is one of the best iPhone split screen apps right now. The app is a unique web browser that allows you to view two websites at the same time. Unfortunately, the feature does not allow for the use of multiple apps at the same time.
This means you can only use split screen with this app in browsers like Safari or Chrome, not in apps like WhatsApp or Instagram. WebDuo Pro is not free; it will set you back $1.99.
2. Split Screen View
Also recommended is the Split Screen View application. The app comes in both a free and a paid version and allows for simultaneous content display. This includes both websites and apps such as Instagram and Twitter.
You have complete control over which screen contents you want to share with this app. A minor flaw: the app's design appears to be a little dated or out of style.
3. Split Web Browser
Split Web Browser is another app that allows you to get an iPhone split screen. Similar to the WebDuo Pro app, the app is free to download from the App Store and allows you to use two browsers in parallel.
You can't use it and other apps like Twitter, Facebook Messenger, or TikTok at the same time, unfortunately. The good news is that, despite being free, the app is completely ad-free.
4. Split Screen – Web Browser app
"Split Screen – Web Browser app," a free app, is also available. One of the best split screen applications currently available is hidden behind the somewhat cumbersome name. You can start using apps – whether browsers or social media apps – as soon as you download and open it.
